Naousa Marina, Paros
Free Entrance

In the context of the “Kapetaneika” traditional boat regatta and the final installment of the “Crafts of the Sea” exhibition, Archipelago Network presents an open-air screening in the picturesque fishing port of Naousa. The screening features a collection of short films directed by filmmaker Jacob Moe, celebrating the maritime crafts and heritage of the Cycladic islands, including Paros, Santorini, Koufonisia, and beyond.

The films offer intimate portraits of key figures from the islands’ seafaring communities, including cargo captain Manolis Zisimopoulos, boatbuilder Stathis Aliprantis, fisherwoman Anthi Arvaniti, and boatbuilder Michalis Prasinos, among others. Their stories bring to life the rich traditions and evolving challenges faced by those who have dedicated their lives to the sea.

Through the lens of these personal narratives, viewers are invited to explore the lasting legacy and interconnectedness of boatbuilding, fishing, and maritime trade across the Cyclades.

Crafts of the Sea is realized in collaboration with the Municipality of Paros and Kapetaneika 2024 with the support of the Costas M. Lemos Foundation, Goethe-Institut Athen, and Archipelago Network’s benefactors’ circle.
