“Traditional Boatbuilding on Syros Today” pilot project

In fall 2021, Archipelago Network begins an archival module on traditional shipbuilding on Syros, including digitization of audiovisual materials from the historic “Tarsanas” shipyard in Hermoupolis, and selected filmed interviews with boatbuilders on the island. This module is completed in partnership with the Syros Historical Archive – GAK and Arxeion Taxis, an archive preservation initiative.

An intangible cultural heritage project, Traditional Boatbuilding on Syros Today is supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and held under its auspices.
